The Buddha said: "A person practicing the Way is like forged iron: as it is gradually refined and its dross discarded, the vessel made from it will surely be fine. In studying the Way, gradually go deeper, discard the dross of the mind, and vigorously advance toward the Way. If you act violently, the body will tire; if the body tires, the mind will become vexed; if the mind becomes vexed, your practice will regress; if your practice regresses, you will cultivate offenses."
