"Kulaputra, because that sentient being's illusory body ceases, the illusory mind also ceases; because the illusory mind ceases, the illusory dusts also cease; because the illusory dusts cease, the cessation of illusion also ceases; because the cessation of illusion ceases, that which is not illusory does not cease. It is like polishing a mirror: when the tarnish is completely removed, clarity appears. Kulaputra, you should know that body and mind are both illusory tarnish; when the marks of tarnish are permanently eliminated, the ten directions are pure. Kulaputra, it is like a pure maṇi jewel which reflects the five colors, each appearing according to orientation; foolish persons see that maṇi as truly having five colors. Kulaputra, the pure nature of perfect enlightenment appears in body and mind, responding according to kind; foolish persons say that pure perfect enlightenment truly has such self-marks of body and mind, which is also just like this. Due to this, they cannot depart from illusory transformations. Therefore, I say that body and mind are illusory tarnish; in opposition to illusory tarnish, one is provisionally called a bodhisattva. When the tarnish is exhausted and the opposition is removed, then there is neither opposing tarnish nor one who is so named."
