Then the Bhagavat said to the bodhisattva Maitreya: "Excellent, excellent! Kulaputra, you are able to inquire of the Tathāgata, for the sake of the bodhisattvas and sentient beings of the latter age, concerning the profound, secret, marvelous meaning, to cause the bodhisattvas to purify their wisdom eyes and to cause all sentient beings of the latter age to sever transmigration forever, awaken in their minds to true reality, and be endowed with the forbearance of non-arising. Listen closely now! I shall speak for you." Then the bodhisattva Maitreya joyfully received the teaching, and the great assembly listened in silence.
