"Kulaputra, bodhisattvas enter the worlds solely through upāya of great compassion to open up those who have not yet awakened, even manifesting in various forms and under adverse or favorable circumstances, engaging in the same activities with them to transform them and cause them to achieve Buddhahood, all relying on the power of their beginningless pure vows. If all sentient beings of the latter age generate an aspiring mind toward great perfect enlightenment, they should generate the pure, great vows of a bodhisattva and say these words: 'May I now abide in the Buddha's perfect enlightenment, and in seeking a good spiritual friend, may I never encounter non-Buddhists or those of the two vehicles.' Cultivating according to this vow, they gradually sever the hindrances; when the hindrances are exhausted and the vow fulfilled, they will ascend the palace of the pure Dharma of liberation, realizing the sublime realm of adornment of great perfect enlightenment."
