The two fascicles of the Mahāvairocana Accomplishment Ritual Manual were compiled by Ācārya Faquan while residing at Xuanfa Monastery. Hence it is called the "Xuanfa Monastery Ritual Manual"; this was brought back by the Great Master Jikaku. In old editions, the five-character verses have four lines per column; this is the ancient rhythm and the standard format for canonical texts. However, in the present block-printed edition, there are three lines per column, which is merely due to the occasional presence of interlinear notes making the phrasing difficult to divide. Furthermore, all proofread corrections have been placed in the head notes, in the hope that future sages may amend them again in due course.
