At that time, the World-Honoured One Vairocana again surveyed the great assembly and addressed the Vajradhara Lord of Secrets, saying: "Son of the Buddha! There are eight secret mudrās that are most secret, sharing the same majestic power as the rank of the noble deities. Taking their own mantra paths as emblems, depict their maṇḍalas in correspondence with the primary deities. If bodhisattvas cultivate bodhisattva practices in the mantra gate according to the Dharma teachings, they should know in this manner that their own bodies abide firmly and unshakeably in the forms of the primary deities. Having known the primary deities, they abide like the primary deities and attain siddhi. What are the eight mudrās?
