The Susiddhi Sūtra states: “If one seeks superior siddhi, one should [do so] at the eight great stūpas of the Tathāgata, the birthplace of the Bodhisattva, the site where he practiced austerities, the summit of a high mountain, a famous mountain on an ocean island, the shore of a great ocean, deep in a mountain ravine, in front of a relic stūpa, a place of advantageous terrain, a place one loves and takes joy in, a place with abundant flowers and fruits, in a great forest or marsh, beside a great nāga pool, by a pool in a great river, a pure spring or pond, a place free from bustling clamour, beside a great mountain lake, an araṇya deep in the mountains with abundant fragrant trees, a place where the shadow of a solitary great tree does not move, or a place with many sacred sites. Such places are named supreme, with the power to accomplish superior siddhi.
