"Having a new pavilion built" means: having built an ornate dwelling suitable for living in during the four months of the rainy season, equipped with places for the night, places for the day, and a walking-meditation path, enclosed outside with reeds. "He meditated on the absorption of compassion" means: he meditated on the three-fold or four-fold absorption of compassion; moreover, through the doorway of compassion the remaining three divine abidings are also included. "Yearning, agitation": for one established on the plane of absorption there is no yearning of dissatisfaction or agitation of fear; rather, the meaning is that there was an aspiration for, a craving for, the coming of Brahmā.
