"When his mind is thus concentrated": here, the consciousness of the fourth absorption that serves as the basis for insight should be understood. "Toward the knowledge of the destruction of the influxes": for the purpose of producing the knowledge of the destruction of the influxes. And here, what is called the "destruction of the influxes" refers to the path, the fruit, Nibbāna, and cessation. For in the phrase "knowledge of destruction, knowledge of non-arising," the path is called the destruction of the influxes. In the phrase "by the destruction of the influxes one becomes an ascetic," it is the fruit.
