Dighanikaya 24.26

24.26

Dārupattikantevāsīti dārupattikassa antevāsī. Tassa kira etadahosi ‘‘tiṭṭhatu tāva pāṭihāriyaṃ, samaṇo gotamo ‘acelo pāthikaputto āsanāpi na vuṭṭhahissatī’ti āha. Handāhaṃ gantvā yena kenaci upāyena taṃ āsanā vuṭṭhāpemi. Ettāvatā ca samaṇassa gotamassa parājayo bhavissatī’’ti. Tasmā evamāha.

"Pupil of Dārupattika" means a disciple of Dārupattika. To him, it is said, this occurred: "Let the miracle be for now! The ascetic Gotama has said, ‘The naked ascetic Pāthikaputta will not even rise from his seat.’ Come now, I will go and by some means or other make him rise from his seat. And to that extent there will be the defeat of the ascetic Gotama." Therefore he spoke thus.
