“At Bīraṇatthambaka”: the sectarians, hearing that Korakkhattiya had died, counted the days and thought: “This much has indeed come true; now let us throw him elsewhere and refute the ascetic Gotama as a liar!” Going there and binding his body with a creeper, they dragged it away, going along saying: “We will throw him here, we will throw him here!” But every place they reached was just an open courtyard. Dragging him along, they arrived right at the Bīraṇatthambaka cemetery, and realising it was a cemetery, dragged him on, saying: “We will throw him elsewhere!” Then their creeper snapped, and afterwards they were unable to move him. They departed right from there. Hence it was said: “They discarded him in the Bīraṇatthambaka cemetery.”
