"Perception of wild beasts" means the perception, 'This is a deer, this is a deer.' "Sharp weapons will appear in their hands" means that, it is said, whatever they merely touched with their hands, even down to a blade of grass or a leaf, would become a weapon itself. "Let us not [deprive] anyone" means: let us not deprive even a single person of life. "Nor anyone us" means: let no single person deprive us of life either. "What if we": thinking, 'This destruction of the world is present; two cannot preserve their lives standing in one place,' they considered this. "Thickets of woods" means an impenetrable place, thick with what are called woods—grass, thickets, creepers, and so on. "Thickets of trees" means an impenetrable place, thick with trees. "River chasms" means places difficult to traverse, such as the intermediate islands of rivers. "Mountain declivities" means rugged [terrain] caused by mountains, or uneven places upon mountains. "They will associate" means they will make [them] like themselves through cordial conversation, saying: 'How is it that I live, oh beings seen! You too live in like manner.'
