Ettāvatā bhagavā seṭṭhacchedakavādaṃ dassetvā idāni aparenapi nayena seṭṭhacchedakavādameva dassetuṃ hoti kho so, vāseṭṭha, samayotiādimāha. Tattha saṃvaṭṭavivaṭṭakathā brahmajāle vitthāritāva. Having shown the refutation of the claim of pre-eminence thus far, now in order to show that very refutation of the claim of pre-eminence by yet another method, he said: 'There comes a time, Vāseṭṭha,' and so on. There, the discussion on contraction and expansion has already been detailed in the Brahmajāla. 'They come to this state' means they come to this state of existence, human existence. 'They are mind-made here' means that even when being reborn here in the human realm, having become spontaneously arisen, they are produced solely by mind, hence 'mind-made.' Just as in the Brahmā realm, here too joy alone performs the function of food for them, hence 'feeding on joy.' In this very way, 'self-luminous' and so forth should also be understood.
