Āluppakārakaṃ upakkamiṃsu paribhuñjitunti ālopaṃ katvā piṇḍe piṇḍe chinditvā paribhuñjituṃ ārabhiṃsu. Candimasūriyāti candimā ca sūriyo ca. Pāturahesunti pātubhaviṃsu.

'They set about eating it, making mouthfuls' means making morsels, having broken it into lumps, they began to eat. 'Moon and sun' means both the moon and the sun. 'Appeared' means they became manifest.
