Iti navakavasena sāmaggirasaṃ dassetvā idāni dasakavasena dassetuṃ puna desanaṃ ārabhi. Tattha nāthakaraṇāti ‘‘sanāthā, bhikkhave, viharatha mā anāthā, dasa ime, bhikkhave, dhammā nāthakaraṇā’’ti (a. ni. 10.18) evaṃ akkhātā attano patiṭṭhākarā dhammā.

Having thus shown the taste of unity by way of the sets of nine, he now began the teaching again to show it by way of the sets of ten. Therein, "making a protector": qualities that make one's own support, as declared thus: "Live, monks, with a protector, not without a protector; these ten qualities, monks, make a protector" (AN 10.18).
