Etadavocāti imesu brāhmaṇesu evaṃ ekappahāreneva viravantesu ‘‘ayaṃ kathā pariyosānaṃ na gamissati, handa ne nissadde katvā soṇadaṇḍeneva saddhiṃ kathemī’’ti cintetvā – ‘‘etaṃ sace kho tumhāka’’ntiādikaṃ vacanaṃ avoca.

"He said this": when these brahmins were thus shouting all at once, thinking, "This talk will never reach an end; come, let me silence them and speak only with Soṇadaṇḍa," he said the words beginning with: "If to you..."
