Seyyathāpi, ānanda, maṇiratanaṃ kāsike vatthe nikkhittaṃ neva maṇiratanaṃ kāsikaṃ vatthaṃ makkheti nāpi kāsikaṃ vatthaṃ maṇiratanaṃ makkheti.
Suppose a jewel-treasure was placed on a cloth from Kāsi. The jewel would not soil the cloth, nor would the cloth soil the jewel.
