Pañcame bodhāya saṃvattantīti bujjhanatthāya saṃvattanti. Kiṃ bujjhanatthāya? Maggena asaṅkhataṃ nibbānaṃ, paccavekkhaṇāya katakiccataṃ, maggena vā kilesaniddāto pabujjhanatthāya, phalena pabujjhanabhāvatthāyātipi vuttaṃ hoti. Tenevettha nibbānasacchikiriyā kilesapahānapaccavekkhaṇāti sabbaṃ dassitaṃ.
In the fifth [sutta]: "Conduce to awakening" means they conduce to the purpose of awakening. To what purpose of awakening? To the awakening to unconditioned Nibbāna by means of the path, to having done what had to be done through reviewing knowledge; or it is also said: for the purpose of awakening from the sleep of defilements by means of the path, and for the purpose of the state of awakening through fruition. Just by that, realization of Nibbāna and reviewing the abandonment of defilements are all shown here.
