"Just as these various craft-disciplines, venerable sir, such as elephant drivers, cavalrymen, charioteers, archers, banner-bearers, camp marshals, ration suppliers, […], accountants, calculators, and other various craft-disciplines of such a kind; they, by means of that craft, live on the visible fruit of their craft, and by it they make themselves happy and contented, make their parents happy and contented, make their wives and children happy and contented, make their friends and ministers happy and contented, and establish an upward-leading religious gift for ascetics and brahmins, heavenly, having happiness as result, conducive to heaven; is it possible in that very way, venerable sir, to point out a visible fruit of ascetism in this very life?"
