Vissajjanā – ‘‘abhijānāsi no tvaṃ mahārāja imaṃ pañhaṃ aññe samaṇabrāhmaṇe pucchitāti, abhijānāmahaṃ bhante aññe samaṇabrāhmaṇe pucchitāti, yathākathaṃ pana te mahārāja byākariṃsu, sace te agaru, bhāsassūti na kho me bhante garu, yatthassa bhagavā nisinno bhavantarūpo vāti, tenehi mahārāja bhāsassū’’ti, evaṃ kho bhante tadā bhagavatā rājā māgadho ajātasattu vedehi putto paṭipucchito, evaṃ kho bhante tena tadā bhagavato ārocitaṃ.
Answer – "'Do you recall, great king, asking this question to other ascetics and brahmins?' 'I recall, venerable sir, asking other ascetics and brahmins.' 'In what way then, great king, did they explain it? If it is not troublesome to you, speak.' 'It is not troublesome to me, venerable sir, where the Blessed One or someone like your reverence is seated.' 'Then speak, great king.' In this way, venerable sir, King Ajātasattu Vedehiputta of Magadha was then cross-questioned by the Blessed One; in this way, venerable sir, it was then related by him to the Blessed One.
