In the language of China: Dei phang bya na phhur po'u in kyeng sū phim dei oyir. In the language of Tibet: Thabs mkhas pa chen po sangs rgyas drin lan bsab pa'i mdo (The Sūtra of Repaying the Kindness of the Buddha Who Has Great Skill in Means). [Bampo 1] Thus have I heard at one time: The Bhagavān was residing on Gṛdhrakūṭa mountain in Rājagṛha, together with a great saṅgha of twenty-eight thousand bhikṣus, all of whom had done what was to be done, had lived the brahmacarya, had fully exhausted the fetters of existence, and had attained mastery of mind like great nāgas; namely: Mahākāśyapa, Subhūti, Ājñātakauṇḍinya, Sundarananda, Pūrṇa Maitrāyaṇīputra, Mahāpanthaka, Śāriputra, Mahākātyāyana, Ānanda, Rāhula, and other such noble ones. He was also together with thirty-eight thousand bodhisattva mahāsattvas, all of whom had cultivated roots of virtue over a long time, had constantly practiced the brahmacarya under immeasurable hundreds of thousands of koṭis of buddhas, had fully perfected great aspirations, had penetrated and realized hundreds of thousands of samādhis, had fully perfected dhāraṇīs, never abandoned great compassion, diligently benefited all beings just like great beings, upheld the lineage of the Three Jewels without interruption, erected the banner of the Dharma, served as unasked spiritual friends to ordinary beings, had reached the shore of great gnosis,
