“The Tathāgata, by having kept morality completely pure for immeasurable, countless eons in the past, came to possess the mark of soles of the feet that are flat and full. Due to making offerings and paying respects to father, mother, teachers, preceptors, and persons endowed with qualities, he came to possess the mark of wheels upon the soles of the feet. Without harming sentient beings, without the intention to rob or steal, receiving and seeing off his father, mother, teachers, preceptors, and persons endowed with qualities from afar, spreading out seats for them, abandoning arrogance, and rendering service, paying respects, and bowing down—due to that cause and that condition, he came to possess the mark of fingers that are slender and long. Endowed with the three deeds mentioned above, he came to possess the mark of heels that are round and full. Because he gathered many beings through the four means of attraction, due to that cause and that condition, he came to possess the mark of webbed fingers. Because he rubbed and massaged the bodies of his father, mother, teachers, preceptors, and persons endowed with qualities with butter and sesame oil, due to that cause and that condition, his hands and feet are tender, long, and soft. Because of being untiring in cultivating virtuous dharmas, due to that cause and that condition, his upper back is level and his forearms are round and taper gracefully. Delight in hearing the Dharma, inclination toward teaching the Dharma to others, and performing tasks of service for the sake of the Dharma—due to that cause and that condition, he possesses the mark of anklebones that do not protrude. Keeping his three doors entirely pure, giving nursing and medicines to the sick, being free of pride, and having contentment in food and drink—due to that cause and condition, when standing upright, his hands reach to his knees. Without grudge”
