demonstrate the fault of taking rebirth in bad migrations. Therein,
"Because the childish are deluded by ignorance regarding this,
They greatly delight in the proliferation of asserting two bases."
This demonstrates the fault of proliferation: "two bases" refers to the conditioned and the unconditioned, because they serve as the bases for the eight kinds of proliferation. "Proliferation of assertions" refers to the eight kinds of incorrect conceptual thought. This means that because the childish are deluded by ignorance regarding the two divisions and the ineffable domain, they greatly delight in and cling to the two types of dharmas—the conditioned and the unconditioned—and the eight kinds of proliferation. As for the eight kinds of proliferation, it is said in the *Yogācārabhūmi*:
"Furthermore, because the childish do not thoroughly understand tathatā in that way, based on that ground the eight conceptual thoughts arise, which produce three entities and generate all sentient beings and the container world. As for the eight conceptual thoughts: the first is conceptualizing svabhāva, which is differentiating the svabhāva of all dharmas, conceptualizing things such as 'form' and so forth. The second is conceptualizing distinctions, which is conceptualizing with respect to that very entity designated as 'form' and so forth: 'this has visibility,' 'this lacks visibility,' and so forth. The third is conceptualizing a whole, which is apprehending that very entity designated as 'form' and so forth as a self, a sentient being, a house, an army, a forest, and so forth. The fourth is the conceptual thought of 'I.' The fifth is the conceptual thought of 'mine,' which is apprehending as 'I' and 'mine' an entity that is sāsrava and an appropriated dharma. The sixth is conceptualizing the attractive. The seventh is conceptualizing the unattractive. The eighth is conceptualizing
