purely offering to the Three Jewels. In that regard, worshiping the Tathāgata is of ten kinds: offering to the body, offering to the stūpa, offering in direct presence, offering not in direct presence, offering made by oneself, offering caused to be made by others, offering of material gains and honor, expansive offering, uncontaminated offering, and offering through practice. Therein, offering to the body is making offerings directly to the rūpakāya of the Tathāgata. Offering to the stūpa is making offerings to a Tathāgata's stūpa, reliquary mound, temple shrine, an old stūpa, or a new stūpa. Offering in direct presence is making offerings directly in the presence of the Tathāgata's body or stūpa. Offering not in direct presence is making offerings directed toward the Tathāgata's three bodies or a stūpa when they are not directly present. There is also a shared offering of direct presence and non-direct presence: when offering directly to a single body or stūpa of the Tathāgata, with a resolute attitude of, 'The dharmatā of this single Tathāgata and single stūpa is the very nature of all Tathāgatas and stūpas of the ten directions and three times; therefore, by my making offerings to this directly present Tathāgata and stūpa, I am offering to the Tathāgatas and all others of the ten directions and three times as well,' one makes the offering with such a mind. Therein, direct offering yields expansive fruit of merit; offering not in direct presence yields an even more expansive fruit of merit; and one should know that the shared offering of direct and non-direct presence yields an even far more expansive fruit of merit. Offering made by oneself
