کأن الریش منه فی سهام علی جسد تجسم من ریاح کأن رؤس أقلام غلاظ مسحن بریش جؤجؤه الصحاح فأقعصها بحجن تحت صفر له فعل الأسنة والرماح

"As though its feathers were arrows / upon a body embodied from winds;
"As though the tips of thick reed-pens had been wiped / upon the sound feathers of its breast;
So it dispatched them with curved claws beneath yellow legs, / that perform the deed of spear-heads and lances."
