When Hulaku set out towards 'Irak, the Malik of Mausil, whom they were wont to style Badr-ud-Din-i-Lu-lu—on whom be the Almighty's curse!—had consented to receive a Mughal Shahnah [Intendant]. The Atabak, Abu-Bikr, son of Sa'd, ruler of Fars, likewise had a Shahnah, and had agreed to pay tribute to the Mughals;
