The activity that occurs after understanding what is to be enjoined from verbal testimony is the purpose of the injunction; it is not the understanding itself of what is to be enjoined arising from verbal testimony, because of mutual dependence: for activity occurs when the meaning of the word has been understood, and understanding would belong to one who has engaged [in it]. Or, [if it were said that] comprehension of the sentence meaning arises solely from comprehension of the sentence meaning, there would be self-dependence. But mutual dependence is mentioned because of their equal implausibility. As for the comprehension of reality arising from a sentence intent upon the comprehension of reality, it is not subsequent to the comprehension of the sentence meaning; rather, it is that very thing.
