viniyogādadhigatiryāsyā jñānakriyārthatā /
atatparā na pramāṇaṃ sārthavādotthabuddhivat //

Whatever apprehension [occurs] due to application, having the action of knowing as its purpose, / not being aimed at that [object], is not a means of valid cognition, like an understanding arising from a commendatory passage. //
