3.29

vidhervinā kāryaśūnyaṃ bhūtārthamanuvādakam /
vacaḥ syādanuvādaśca pramāṇāntaragocare //

Without an injunction, an utterance devoid of an effect [to be done] is reiterative of an already established entity; / and a reiteration occurs only with regard to an object within the scope of another means of valid cognition. //
