‘By these’ (ābhiḥ), ‘by desires’ (abhiṣṭibhiḥ)—by such seekings of you, by prayers to you—‘awaken’ (pracetaya), awaken in us some joy and the like. ‘O Pracetas’ (pracetana) means ‘O one of eminent consciousness, O omniscient one, O Supreme Self.’ ‘For brilliance’ (dyumnāya) means ‘for knowledge,’ or ‘for wealth,’ or ‘for renown.’ Awaken us ‘for food’ (iṣe), for nourishment. For such is Śakra; or ‘Śakra alone.’ He is Śakra because his nature is supreme power. (2)
