brūmaḥ- svaro varṇaviśeṣo virāma ityete gītyupayogitvādyathā'tidiśyante, tathā stobhā apīti kālaparicchedakatvādati diśyantām ||
We reply: just as accents, particular phonemes, and pauses are transferred because they serve the chant, so also let the musical interjections be transferred because they delimit the time [of the chant].
