When there is a distinct means of valid cognition, apprehension operates in two ways; for apprehension is in one way in inference, and in another way in analogy—that has been explained. But in the case of verbal testimony and inference, apprehension does not operate in two ways; just as it is in inference, so it is in verbal testimony as well. Because there is no difference, verbal testimony is inference.
