161.2
evaṃ vyabhicārāt pratiṣiddhahetāv anyaśabdasya prayogaḥ pratiṣidhyate---
When the logical reason has thus been refuted because of deviation, the use of the word 'other' is rejected:
161.3
anyad anyasmād ananyatvād ananyad ity anyatābhāvaḥ ||
[Objection:] What is other than another is non-other; hence there is non-existence of otherness.
161.4
yad idam anyad iti manyase tat svārthenānanyatvād anyan na bhavati, evam anyatāyā abhāvaḥ/ tatra yad uktam anyatve 'py abhyāsopacārād iti etad ayuktam iti//31//
That which you think to be 'other' is not other, because it is non-other with respect to its own entity; thus there is non-existence of otherness. Therefore, what was said—'because repetition is figuratively used even when there is difference'—that is improper.
