Incitement is the state of being a cause of activity; for attachment and the like incite the cognizer toward merit or demerit. Where there is erroneous cognition, there attachment and aversion are found. But since these defects are experienced individually by each self, why are they defined by a characteristic mark? Because those who are attached, averse, and deluded are characterized by their actions: for one who is attached performs that action through which he obtains pleasure or pain; likewise one who is averse, likewise one who is deluded. If one were merely to say 'attachment, aversion, and delusion', much would remain unsaid. //18
