261.3
na sarvaguṇānupalabdheḥ ||
Not so, because of the non-apprehension of all the qualities.
261.4
nāyaṃ guṇaniyogaḥ sādhuḥ/ kasmāt? yasya bhūtasya ye guṇā na te tadātmakenendriyeṇa sarve upalabhyante/ pārthivena hi ghrāṇena sparśaparyantā na gṛhyante gandha eva eko gṛhyate evaṃ śeṣeṣv apīti//64//
This assignment of qualities is not correct. Why? Whichever qualities belong to an element, they are not all apprehended by the sense organ having that nature. For by the olfactory organ, which is earthy, those ending with touch are not grasped; smell alone, a single [quality], is grasped; and so it is with the rest.
