Because there is no logical reason for a restrictive rule, there is admission according to what is observed.

There is no restrictive rule that a continuum of accumulation and depletion exists in all individuals, as in a body. Why? Because of the absence of a logical reason. In this matter, there is no perception or inference establishing it. Therefore, there is admission according to what is observed. Wherever a continuum of accumulation and depletion is seen, there the arising of different individuals one after another is admitted through the observation of that continuum of accumulation and depletion,

as in bodies and the like. Wherever it is not seen, there it is rejected, as in stones and the like. In a crystal too, a continuum of accumulation and depletion is not seen; therefore, it is incorrect to claim that in a crystal also, different individuals arise one after another. And this is just as if one were to attribute the bitterness of all substances from the bitterness of the swallow-wort.
