vināśakāraṇānupalabdheś cāvasthāne tannityatvaprasaṅgaḥ ||
And because no cause of destruction is apprehended, the absurd consequence of its permanence follows if it endures.
293.4
``tadātmaguṇatve 'pi tulyam'' ity etad anena samuccīyate/ dvividho hi guṇanāśahetuḥ, guṇānām āśrayābhāvo virodhī ca guṇaḥ/ nityatvād ātmano 'nupapannaḥ pūrvaḥ, virodhī ca buddher guṇo na gṛhyate --- tasmād ātmaguṇatve sati buddher nityatvaprasaṅgaḥ//23//
This is combined with: 'It is the same even if it is a quality of the self.' For the cause of the destruction of a quality is twofold: the absence of a locus for the qualities, and an opposing quality. The former is inapplicable because the self is permanent, and no quality opposing cognition is perceived; therefore, if it were a quality of the self, the absurd consequence of the permanence of cognition would follow. ||23
