313.2

avyaktagrahaṇam anavasthāyitvād vidyutsampāte rūpāvyaktagrahaṇvat ||

[Objection:] Apprehension would be indistinct because of non-abidingness, like the indistinct apprehension of colour in a flash of lightning.

313.3

yady utpannāpavargiṇī buddhiḥ prāptam avyaktaṃ boddhavyasya grahaṇam, yathā vidyutsampāte vaidyutasya prakāśasyānavasthānād avyaktaṃ rūpagrahaṇam iti; vyaktaṃ tu dravyāṇāṃ grahaṇaṃ tasmād ayuktam etad iti//43//

If cognition perishes immediately upon arising, it would follow that the apprehension of a knowable object is indistinct, just as in a flash of lightning, because the lightning's light does not abide, the apprehension of colour is indistinct; but the apprehension of substances is distinct; therefore, this [position] is incorrect.
