Here, even of existent things, non-perception is observed from extreme distance: as of Caitra, Maitra, or Viṣṇumitra standing in another land; from extreme proximity: as the non-perception of collyrium by the eye; from impairment of the sense faculties: as the non-perception of sound and form by the deaf and the blind; from instability of the mind: as one with a distracted mind does not apprehend even what has been spoken correctly; from subtlety: as particles of smoke, heat, water, and frost located in the sky are not perceived; from obstruction: as an object hidden by a wall is not perceived; from suppression: as planets, lunar asterisms, stars, and the like, suppressed by the brilliance of the sun, are not perceived; from intermixture with what is similar: as a bean thrown into a heap of beans, a jujube fruit or emblic myrobalan thrown into the midst of jujube fruits or emblic myrobalans, or a pigeon in the midst of pigeons is not perceived, because of being mixed into the midst of identical substances. Thus, in eight ways non-perception of existent things is observed here [in the world]. // 7
