Verses on Sāṃkhya 7.2

7.2

mūlaprakṛtiravikṛtirmahadādyāḥ prakṛtivikṛtayaḥ sapta /
ṣoḍaśakastu vikāro, na prakṛtirna vikṛtiḥ puruṣaḥ //

Root nature is non-evolutive; the seven beginning with the great [principle] are evolutive and evolutes;
but the sixteenfold [group] is only an evolute; conscious spirit is neither evolutive nor an evolute. //
