sthānaṃ nimittaṃ vaktā ca śrotā śrotṛprayojanam /
sambandhādyabhidhānaṃ ca upodghātaḥ sa ucyate //
The locus, the cause, the speaker, the hearer, the hearer's purpose,
and the statement of the connection and so forth—that is called the introduction.
