Verses on Sāṃkhya 23.2

23.2

prakṛter mahāṃs tato 'haṅkāras tasmād gaṇaś ca ṣoḍaśakaḥ /
tasmād api ṣoḍaśakāt pañcabhyaḥ pañca bhūtāni //

From nature [arises] the great [principle]; from that, egoity; from that, the group of sixteen;
and from that group of sixteen, from five [of them], the five elements. // 22
