svāṃ svāṃ pratipadyante parasparākūtahetukāṃ vṛttim /
puruṣārtha eva hetur na kenacit kāryate karaṇam //
They undertake their respective functioning, caused by their mutual underlying intent;
The purpose of the spirit is the sole cause; the instrument is not actuated by anyone.
