If it is objected that because the position that all religious duties are enjoined to be performed by rule, the position permitting the performance of some duties according to one's will among those to be performed, and the position enjoining action according to one's will are mutually contradictory, texts like "in whatever manner he may be" have the purpose of the revolving cycle of legends, that is, they have an unsettled meaning—we reply: no; why? "because of specific qualification," that is, because in the Gaupavana śruti, "indeed, knowers are threefold," knowers are specifically qualified by words such as "governed by injunction," and thereby their manifold nature is stated, this is the meaning.
