saṁgāmasūrā jaṇiyāhimāṇā, jujjhanti annōnnanayatthacittā
ghōrā narā nēva gaṇanti satthaṁ, na māruyariṁga vimalaṁ pi bhāṇuṁ

Heroes of battle, their pride aroused, fought with minds bent on slaying each other; / the dreadful men did not reckon weapons, nor the wind, nor the spotless sun.
