"Venerable Sir! In this Ratnaprabhā up to ... are the inhabitants of hell with right worldview? With false worldview? With mixed worldview?"
"All three."
"Venerable Sir! In this Ratnaprabhā up to ... are the inhabitants of hell abiding in right perception engaged in anger?"
"Twenty-seven permutations.
Likewise also in false perception.
In mixed perception, eighty permutations."
"Venerable Sir! In this Ratnaprabhā up to ... are the inhabitants of hell knowing or unknowing?"
"Gautama! Knowing as well as unknowing. Necessarily three knowledges; optionally three non-knowledges."
"Venerable Sir! In this Ratnaprabhā up to ... are the inhabitants of hell abiding in empirical knowledge engaged in anger?"
"Twenty-seven permutations.
Likewise the three knowledges and the three non-knowledges are to be stated."
"Venerable Sir! In this Ratnaprabhā up to ... are the inhabitants of hell possessed of mental activity? Possessed of vocal activity? Possessed of physical activity?"
"All three."
"Venerable Sir! In this Ratnaprabhā up to ... are the inhabitants of hell abiding in mental activity engaged in anger?"
"Twenty-seven permutations.
Likewise in vocal activity.
Likewise in physical activity."
"Venerable Sir! In this Ratnaprabhā up to ... are the inhabitants of hell engaged with differentiated application? Engaged with undifferentiated application?"
"Gautama! Engaged with differentiated application as well as engaged with undifferentiated application."
"Venerable Sir! In this Ratnaprabhā up to ... are the inhabitants of hell abiding in differentiated application engaged in anger?"
"Twenty-seven permutations.
Likewise, in undifferentiated application also, twenty-seven permutations.
Thus all seven earths are to be known, with the distinction [only] in the lesyās:"
