13.5.584

neraiyā ṇaṃ bhaṃte! kiṃ sacittāhārā? acittāhārā? mīsāhārā?
goyamā! no sacittāhārā, acittāhārā, no mīsāhārā| evaṃ asurakumārā, paḍhamo neraiyauddesao niravaseso bhāṇiyavvo|
sevaṃ bhaṃte! sevaṃ bhaṃte! tti|

"Venerable Sir, do inhabitants of hell have living nourishment, non-living nourishment, or mixed nourishment?"
"Gautama! They do not have living nourishment; they have non-living nourishment; they do not have mixed nourishment. Thus [it is for] the asurakumāras; the first uddeśaka on inhabitants of hell is to be recited in full."
"So it is, Venerable Sir! So it is, Venerable Sir!"
