32.1.1016

"Venerable Sir! After dying immediately prior, where do the minor kṛtayugma inhabitants of hell go? Where do they arise—do they arise among inhabitants of hell? Do they arise among those of animal birth?"
The departure is as in the chapter on descent.
"Venerable Sir! How many of those souls depart in a single instant?"
"Gautama! Four, eight, twelve, sixteen, numerable, or innumerable depart."
"Venerable Sir! How do those souls depart?"
"Gautama! Just as a jumper [jumps], so it is just the same." In this way, that very exposition applies, up to: "they depart by their own exertion; they do not depart by another's exertion."
"The minor kṛtayugmas of the Ratnaprabhā earth?"
Likewise also in the Ratnaprabhā [earth]. Likewise up to the lower seventh [earth]. Likewise the minor tryoja, minor dvāparayugma, and minor kalyoja [inhabitants of hell], with the distinction that the quantity should be known; the rest is just the same.
"That is so, Venerable Sir! That is so, Venerable Sir!"

32.1.1017

"The black-leśyā kṛtayugma inhabitants of hell?"
In this order, just as twenty-eight uddeśakas were stated in the hundred on arising, so too twenty-eight uddeśakas should be spoken without omission in the hundred on departing, with the distinction that the phrasing "they depart" is to be spoken; the rest is just the same.
"That is so, Venerable Sir! That is so, Venerable Sir!" up to [the Lord] abides.
