aṃśā bhāgā dāyās tad-dhita-yogena dāyavantaś ca |
tat kila jāter bhāgā bakajiti te santi dāyavantaś ca || [gīti]
tasminn aṃśo yeṣām iti vā gamyo bahu-vrīhiḥ |
vrīhi-nibhas tat-premā teṣāṃ vṛttau tad-āśrayo yuktaḥ || [udgīti]

Parts are shares; they are inheritances, and by connection with that secondary suffix they are kinsmen. / Those shares of His clan, indeed, are kinsmen unto the slayer of Baka. || / Or, it is to be understood as a bahuvrīhi compound: 'those who have a share in Him.' / Their love, resembling rice, is appropriately dependent upon Him in their livelihood. ||
