vastraṃ dadhāti jananī-nihitaṃ prayatnāt
kṣipraṃ ca bandhana-dhiyā svayam ujjahāti |
bhūyas tad ardati bibharti ca yasya cārdhaṃ
vrīḍāṃ vikalpya laghu nityayati sma kṛṣṇaḥ || [vasantatilakā]
He carefully put on the cloth placed by his mother, / and quickly cast it off himself, thinking it a bond; / he tore it again and wore half of it; / but imagining modesty, Kṛṣṇa soon wore it continually.
